Microneedling Frequently Asked Questions
How long should I wait in between treatments?
We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks in between each treatment for the best results.
How many treatments will I need?
Number of treatments range greatly depending on what we are treating. For light anti-aging treatments, 1-2 treatments may be sufficient. For deeper wrinkles and acne scarring, 4-6 treatments may be required to achieve desired results. There is no limit to the number of treatments that one can receive as long as adequate time passes in between each treatment.
What will this improve the appearance of?
Fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, (non-raised) keloid scarring, stretch marks, hair loss, and rosacea.
Does it hurt?
It is uncomfortable to those with a normal to low pain tolerance. We recommend adding on our numbing solution to your treatment.
How long is the down time?
Wait a minimum of 90 minutes before applying anything else to the skin including sunscreen, makeup, moisturizer, and anything apart from the remainder of the vial of microneedling solution. Typically it then takes 24-72 hours for all redness and pinprick scabbing to disappear.
What will my face look like immediately after my treatment?
There is a very wide range of normal reactions. Anything from little to no reaction, to a deep red flush, to pinpoint bleeding is completely normal. As this is a non-ablative procedure, more extreme reactions do not necessarily correspond to more extreme results.
How long before I can expect to see results?
As soon as 2-3 weeks in some cases. 2-3 treatments for more extreme results.
Are there any contraindications?
Pregnancy, DIabetes, Accutane or any related acne medications, active herpes simplex (cold sores), overly dry skin, any active inflammatory skin conditions, and retinoids (stop treatment at least 1 day prior). Numbing solution can not be used if currently pregnant or nursing.
Can I combine this with other treatments?
Typically combining treatments will result in more aggressive treatments and longer downtimes. It is not recommended aside from LED Light Therapy.
